The Survivors

Only a handful of survivors has been found here in the valley. The others have gone into hiding, afraid of looters and robbers who may take advantage of the dire situation and steal their meagre belongings.

The rest have come forward to be counted amongst the living.

Here are their stories:

Elwood and Grace Colville

A kindly, retired couple, whose family was lost when their luxury timber home caught fire and collapsed after the 'incident'. Although they miss their children and grandchildren, Elwood and Grace have promised to help the 'cause' in any way possible. Opening their doors to all the orphans that have managed to survive.

Billy Wilkes

Billy had just been promoted at the academy when this disaster struck. Stranded here, he hopes to corral everyone together and keep crime to a minimum until the roads are cleared and help arrives.

The Hawkiss Family

James, known as 'Colonel', is a retired war vet, badly scarred and injured, he had hoped for a peaceful life back home, helping his wife Suzanne to raise their two children. Teenager Ricky, who has aspirations to follow in his dad's footsteps and toddler Tilly. He may be a reluctant hero, but can his fear of conflict, prevent him from helping the cause?

Fatima Goldalming

Fatima arrived at Prospect Valley in search of her fortune. But sadly was stranded here alone and penniless. She hates the place with a passion but can't leave until the roads are cleared. After all, she's not used to getting her hands dirty... that's what maids were for. Can she hold on long enough and realise that there's more to life than money? Or will she run, at the first opportunity?

Josef Toft and Pamela Needy

Were on the final leg of an epic back packing trip with a few of their graduate buddies, when they stopped off at Prospect Valley. The group was separated, resulting in Josef and Pamela being left behind. Pooling their money together, they decided to shack up under one roof and sit it out until help arrives. Josef was a notorious 'player' in college and has been trying to make 'moves' on Pamela for a while. Can she fight him off and stand up for herself, or fall for his wily charms once and for all?

Mr 'X'

Little is know of this character, as he keeps mainly to himself and rarely if ever, ventures out amongst the community. What his intentions are, are a closely guarded secret. But there's a definite aura of menace about him.

And then there's myself....

My story? Um, well. Here's the thing.....
.... indirectly, I was responsible for the so called 'accident'. I was opposed to it, right from the very beginning, but all the other egg-heads ignored my pleas and continued with their experiments. I felt useless against them. This was my first real job and I didn't want to lose it. And now.... I may be paranoid.... but I know everyone who has survived.... blames me for what happened. And so I've got to live with the consequences...

Introduction: So, this is it.....

Pretty sucky huh?

But that's the way of things around here, destruction, desolation.
Quite a grim wake up call if you ask me.

And to think, this was once a fertile ground, bustling with activity, a community that thrived on socialization, production, commerce. And it's all gone bye bye. All thanks to an accident just waiting to happen. An experiment that had gone badly wrong.

Oh of course, scientists have remained tight-lipped about it all, claiming it was 'an oversight that we didn't truly anticipate'. But we all know better.

When I say 'we'. What I'm meaning, are the families that have been left behind in this wasteland. Those that have survived and lived to tell the tale.

Roads are blocked, so nobody can come in and nobody can go out. We're totally isolated here, thanks to the high mountains that surround us. Power is tricky at the best of times, communication is limited to the valley. Kids wanting to go to college? Forget it.

To make matters worse, the ground is rendered practically infertile.

Great.

So now what?

We've got to pull together, that's what. Bring together frightened families, to rebuild our community. To dredge ourselves from the mire, the rubble, brush ourselves off and bring this town back from the ashes. To start from the basics and build our way upwards. Salvage old community lots, pull on our limited resources, recycle anything we can get our hands on until help arrives ..... if it arrives.

But first, we've got to bury our dead. Strangely enough, the old church and it's graveyard are still standing, throughout this disaster.

Even the interior remains intact although the walls look a little battle-worn ... and trust me ... we'll all need just a little bit of faith to pull us through this.

Prospect Valley is no more.

We are now .... Phoenix Valley.

Can we do it? Can we rebuild the community, back to where it was before?

I can only hope so.
